Welcome To Shakespeare

A fun and interactive way to introduce your students to theatre and Shakespeare. based on our Best of State winning show Breakfast With Shakespeare, this show takes Shakespeare's original text and mixes it with modern interpretation.  

Aesops Fables

A bright and light hearted telling of some of our most favorite fables. Learn about right and wrong and other important life lessons! Tortoise and the Hare, the Ant and the Grasshopper, and the Dog and his Bone are just a few of the stories included in our production.

School Performances held at our theatre are Tuesday-Thursdays from 9:45am-11:15pm. Minimum of 75 people to book (smaller groups can be accommodated). 5$ per person, including parents, teachers and chaperons.

THEATRE WORKSHOPS:
Want to do a small project or workshop session with your group? We offer workshops at our theatre in acting skills, public speaking, puppetry, Shakespeare, stage makeup, as well as curriculum integration in history, literature, and science. One day and multi -day workshop options are available and we can tailor the subject to meet your needs.

NOW OFFERING HOMESCHOOL THEATRE CLASSES!

The Utah Children’s Theatre is now offering Theatre Classes and workshops designed especially for Homeschool Students!

Theatre Classes
These classes are designed to teach acting skills and introduce students to the theatre art form. Classes will be held at the theatre on Friday mornings from 9:30-11:30 am. Each session lasts 8 weeks and will culminate with a recital for friends and family.

September 16th- November 4th -Shakespeare!- An introduction to the bard of Avon and his works. Students will develop acting skills as they explore Shakespeare’s language and characters. The session will culminate with a performance of a 30 minute Shakespeare play.

November 14th- January 27th : Voice and Diction- This class will explore the actors tool of voice. Students will learn how to use their speaking voice most effectively as they work on volume, diction, emotion and character creation. This session will culminate with a puppet show or radio drama performance.

February 3rd-March 31st- Storytelling - This class will help students use their bodies and voices to become more effective storytellers. Students will lean and explore pantomime and ensemble work to tell stories from around the world. This session will culminate in a theatrical performance of piece of children’s literature.

April 7th- June 2nd - Playwriting- In this class students will learn about play structure and character development as they are guided in writing their own monologues and short plays. This session will culminate in a performance of original student pieces.

Meighan Smith has her BFA in Theatre Education From Brigham Young University. As a certified teacher she has spent the last 15 years teaching theatre to young people across the Wasatch front. She is currently an Associate Director and the Education Outreach Specialist at the Utah Children’s Theatre. In addition to teaching at UCT, Meighan has been a Theatre specialist at U of U Youth Theatre and a teaching artist for the Beverly Taylor Sorensen Arts Learning Program. An accomplished actress and director, Her most recent directing credits include Snow White, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Rapunzel, and Into the Woods Junior at UCT. Favorite roles include Lady DeWinter in The Three Musketeers, Princess Aura in Flash Gordon and Goneril/Witch/Calpurnia in UCT's Best of State Winning Breakfast With Shakespeare.
